# Research graph: methods and scope

## Start with a question

The page offers four reading paths: meaning and inference; reasons and revision; conflict and context; authority and publication. Each presents an argument from an available Coherence essay, its exact PDF page, and two or three scholarly readings explaining a specific connection. A research-use section describes a concrete comparison or investigation that those readings enable.

The full bibliography remains separately searchable. Search includes question text, argument, annotations, connected authors and titles, and the existing concept vocabulary. Partial-word matching includes metaphysics/metaphysical. Domain headings open the bibliography; the framework-aspect selector narrows it to the explicitly connected readings. Counts beside the search input expose matches in both views.

## Selection and interpretation

Four arguments remain public. Each has an argument reconstruction, consequence, research question, and a source anchor. Eight additional claim cards were withdrawn in this revision; earlier withdrawn records remain private. None of the forthcoming essay's argument records is published.

The nine direct scholarly connections use Brandom, Bender and Koller, Doyle, Modgil and Prakken, de Kleer, Dung, Schneider, Yolum and Singh, and Selbst and colleagues. Annotations identify the work's role and explain the particular inference being drawn. A philosophical basis is distinguished from an applicable computational method or a qualification of scope. The connections are editorial interpretations; their precise source passages and citations are available beside each reading.

Doyle and de Kleer annotations use publisher abstracts. The other seven use specified passages of primary full texts hosted by authors, universities, or the ACL Anthology. Locators refer to the linked edition: PDF page and section where available, or the publisher abstract. No third-party full text is republished.

## Catalogue and identity

The 268 original distinct bibliography identities are preserved. The research catalogue also contains Searle, Chalmers, Bender and Koller, and a chapter-specific Brandom record: 272 works altogether. The specific chapter has its own citation and does not replace the matrix's broader Brandom corpus entry. Existing work summaries remain catalogue descriptions, separate from the curated argument relations.

The original metadata assessments remain recorded. A checked passage does not imply that the complete bibliography has been reread. Review records specify access basis, method, date, and agent attribution; no independent human review is recorded.

## Publication checks

Every public question requires a located passage in an available essay, a substantive argument and consequence, a concrete research use, and at least two directly connected scholarly works. At least one connection must offer a philosophical basis or an applicable method. Every relationship must cite substantive evidence for the work and the originating essay passage. Private or unavailable dependencies suppress stranded questions and orphan evidence. Unsupported argument relations, open-ended placeholders, and standalone evaluation proposals are not published.

Canonical essay hashes anchor the source passages. A replacement requires checking the locators before regenerating the public data. Original essay files are not edited by research curation. Private records are excluded through a field allowlist and dependency closure.

## Citation and downloads

Source titles open the consulted reading directly. Passage details expose the bibliographic citation and exact reading location. Question links are stable; connected bibliography works link back to the relevant question.

The reading download contains BibTeX citations for the visible questions' connected works, or exactly the filtered works when browsing the bibliography. Full BibTeX, RIS, CSL-JSON, graph JSON, and CSV exports remain available under the downloads section, along with the static bibliography and versioned release manifest.

Source documents retain their existing rights and notices. Reuse terms for this export remain unspecified.
